A study by Munich American Reassurance Company of DI insurance companies reports that despite the 2008 recession and a national economy that has not yet shown any great signs of recovery, the disability insurance marketplace is still fairly healthy.
Disability insurance sales are continuing, and DI agents expect their sales to continue to grow over the next five years. What’s interesting is that companies are taking action to support the growth, investing heavily in sales-specific training and marketing program – – but not product development.
From what we see on our side of the DI equation, that means that the next few years will see an increasing effort to sell disability insurance policies and a related rise in the number of policies sold. What remains unknown will be the willingness of disability insurance companies to pay on the claims that will eventually follow this forecasted rise in sales.
